The mid-week weekend

The life of this under-employed geographer involves working weekends and having obscure weekdays off. At least I have two in a row. The result is that today, Tuesday, is my Friday, and tomorrow, Wednesday, will be my Monday. So what is a girl to do with a Tuesday that is a Sunday? Noone else has the day off, there are no weekend festivities to attend, and the weather is dismal.

This morning I had another crack at my SSHRC funding application for grad school next year, had a minor flip-out when I realized that I really don't have a chance because I don't know exactly what I want to study so I can't write a convincing research proposal with literature cited. If I had more time I could do it, but it's due in week. It might be alright if it wasn't for the reference letters I also have to get. I'll sleep on it but I think I'll abandon the pursuit until next year.

After the minor flip out (thank my lucky stars that Lisa was on MSN to hear my distress) there was a period of self-pity and "what the heck am I doing with my life" that is an almost daily question. Then I got my hair cut...for the first time in almost a year. It looked so good I had to go to the grocery store to show it off.

Now I'm putting in some time before yoga, and am looking forward to Gilmore Girls tonight. Rory has finally come to her senses and has been reunited with Lorelai, but OMG, Luke has a 12 year old daughter that he didn't know about until last episode! Will he still marry Lorelai, what will she do when she finds out? Will Christopher come back and ruin everything again? Addicted? I'm not addicted! I'm not!

Courtney,
I just found you and am now going through your archives. Loving it!

I've been very thankful to TWoP to keep me going through my dry months of GG. I rarely stay up late enough, or forget to watch because I'm marking.
What's with Luke now? And i'm not addicted either! ;)
