It's been a busy knitting season in our house with Christmas approaching. Jaunts up the street to the yarn store abound, and projects are flying off the needles. There is some diversity, but this knit farm is a bit of a monoculture at the moment. A brilliant pattern for fingerless gloves is the project of choice, and here are two recent examples:

I love these fingerless mitts. They are rather silly most days here now, but I carry them around all the same.
Now I need to track down a pattern and make them myself. The ones I have my mom made. At their local craft fair this year, she sold out and was left with orders for 10+ pairs for those who came too late!
The pattern is from knitty.com and is called "fetching". You can find it by looking in the archives. They are so quick to knit up, it's excellent gratification. I have orders for Christmas and have two more pairs to knit!
For the purple pair I cast on 35, and for the green one I cast on 40 (the pattern is one size and casts on 45). I have pretty small hands, and I'm still not sure which one I like best for me. It's a bit of a finger wiggle to get the purple ones on because they're quite tight. The green ones are probably a better fit unless you are extremely tiny hands. But I really think 45 would be too big for most women.
Sweet knits!
